ASSESSING STUDENTS THROUGH PROJECTS.

Financial Literacy Project

This project based assessment  targets the students reasoning through research which allows them to become productive citizens, and develop their ability  of performing meaningful tasks in the real world. During this assessment  I will be vigilant in their performance as group participants. Their graph must include the amount of money they got, the amount they wish to spend in what, the amount they want to save for what and for what reason. Graphs must be presented with appropriate financial vocabulary and will receive extra points for graphic sources. Addendum:

REFLECTION:

After conducting this assessment to my 4th grade students, I noticed the difference between a traditional assessment such a worksheet and a project based assessment. During the traditional assessment, the students quietly worked on their problems and it was not until I graded them that I knew who hadn't learn the concept. While conducting the project based assessment, I was able to spot students' weaknesses through questioning. One of the most important things that I learned this module is that teacher as well as students can benefit through inquiries. I will use this method in a daily basis to check for students' understanding.

Sample Assessment

Another way to assess students is by questioning their reasoning on a subject. Students might orally explain their understanding by answering questions and expanding their knowledge.
